Outstanding durability and low-speed power have made the MT 653DR very popular in on/off-highway vehicles like refuse trucks. With five-speeds and a deep first gear, the MT 653DR is just at home on the road as it is off-road. A torque converter gives the MT 653DR steady starting power on-highway and excellent traction off-road. It multiples the engine's torque for deep low-end ratio coverage. As a result, the first gear of an MT can do the same work as the first two or three gears of a manual. An optional PTO mounting pad is available on the right side of the transmission housing. This provision allows for a converter-driven PTO, to protect both the engine and auxiliary equipment from sudden shock loads. |
